This week some members of the AVG took part in our second phase of digitisation training. Dan, Alex and Robin from the University of Lincoln/International Bomber Command Centre Digital Archive (IBCCDA) spent the day with us on Monday. Ten volunteers learned how to describe our collection in readiness for publication using the Dublin Core method. We thank the IBCCDA team for an informative and entertaining day.

Our usual AVG day is Saturday and this week we were joined by the Dakota team, a few of our trustees and stewards on a ‘work day’. The team spent the day preparing for site for the start of the season next week; smartening up the grounds, cleaning the hall and installing a full size Lancaster Bomb Bay door in its new location. The remaining members of the team continued their activities either carrying out digitisation, putting finishing touches to the main display areas or restoring display cabinets for one of our new exhibition spaces.

We hope you will join us next Wednesday evening (27th) for the first of our new season’s lectures entitled ‘Recipe for a V Bomber’ with Julian Grenfell and then again on Saturday 30th for our opening day; where we will be joined by a group of re-enactors from the ‘20th century Soldier LHG’. A great start to the season – see you all then.
