Another super week for our volunteers at RAF Metheringham. Mike, Gill, Stan, Caterina and Tracey (members of our Learning team), met on Thursday to refine one of our new school sessions; the re-telling (through objects) of the story of friends Bill Knaggs’ and Bill McPhail’s sortie in June 1944.

On Saturday, we welcomed 13 members of the AVG. Tony was on the early shift digitizing photographs, Roger and Linda continued with their research activities, Mike and Beryl worked on marketing our new Zena-Scoley museum-room ‘Put Yourself in their Shoes’ exhibition (watch this space!), Kate, Christine and Gemma started preparing objects for a new display, Tracey Caterina and visiting volunteer, Sydney, carried out accessioning activities, and Mike and a new volunteer installed new signs and display items, in preparation for the opening of our new Memorial Room within the next few weeks.

Our knowledgeable Stewards shared their expertise with our visitors and the Dakota team continued its conservation.

Next Saturday we will be welcoming the 20th Century Soldiers Re-enactment group, again. They will be bringing their “famous” cricket set, so why don’t you come along and bring your vintage games to play, too, and join in the family fun. See you there.
