As our crews were returning across the Channel, they saw a vast fleet of miscellaneous craft from battleships to barges, bending towards the coast of #Normandy – ‘#DDAY HAD ARRIVED’ (From #106Sqn #Operations book.)

That evening with the invasion in full swing the next target for #106Sqn was the road bridges surrounding #Caen, a city a few miles inland & the predicted location of a likely German counter attack against the newly formed invasion bridgehead.
